European Parliament says 'yes' to computerising movement and surveillance of excise goods
Brussels, 13/02/2019 (Agence Europe)

On Wednesday 13 February, MEPs approved by 573 votes to 18, with 25 abstentions, the draft report drawn up by Kay Swinburne (ECR, UK) approving the proposal for a decision to extend the computerising movement and surveillance of excise goods to internal movements within the Union of excise goods released for consumption.

In practical terms, the computerising will allow the electronic transmission of administrative documents, improve controls and simplify intra-EU movements of excise goods.
