Intermediation platforms, EU co-legislators are giving themselves two days to complete file

08/02/2019 (Agence Europe)The EU's co-legislators will indeed try to reach an agreement on unfair practices in platform-to-business (P2B) relations, on the margins of the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Discussions are expected to start in the afternoon of February 12. If no agreement is reached that evening, the negotiators will resume their work in the evening of the following day. At this stage, the main open question remains whether or not operating systems should be included in the scope of this regulation, which advocates greater transparency in the terms and conditions of platforms and strengthens companies' possibilities of appeal. It also remains for negotiators to agree on the inclusion of individually negotiated contracts, obligations on search engines and enforcement mechanisms. According to the Politico website, Parliament could propose to distil certain unfair practices in the annex into articles. (SPj)
