05/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – Representatives of the European Union and Qatar finalised the negotiations on the air transport agreement between the two parties on Tuesday, 5 February. This agreement will cover several aspects, notably in terms of competition and transparency. "We have taken bold steps by agreeing to articles on fair competition, social aspects, business practices, and transparency", said Qatar Airways Chairman and CEO Akbar al-Baker that same day in Doha, as reported by Reuters. "This agreement will put in place a single set of rules, for all services between the EU and Qatar. It will create new jobs, business opportunities and provide better prices for passengers", said Violeta Bulc, Commissioner for Transport. The agreement must now be signed and ratified by both parties. (LT)
