05/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Selection Committee (see EUROPE 12093) transmitted, on Monday 4 February, to the European Parliament and the Council of the EU its short list of 3 candidates for the post of Head of the European Public Prosecutor's Office. Among the 11 candidates shortlisted and called for interviews at the end of January (see EUROPE 12182), the former Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate of Romania, Laura Codruţa Kövesi, came out on top, G4 media revealed and a diplomatic source to EUROPE confirmed. Alongside the Romanian - whose dismissal had been controversial (see EUROPE 11968) - is the French Prosecutor General Jean-François Bohnert followed by the German Andrés Ritter. The European Parliament and the Council will have to agree on an appointment by the end of March (see EUROPE 12173) after interviewing the three candidates. (MF)
