31/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – In the European Union, the unemployment rate stood at 6.6% in December 2018, according to the latest figures from the European Union Statistical Office (Eurostat) published on Thursday 31 January. A rate that remains stable compared to the previous month, but "remains the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since the start of the monthly unemployment series in January 2000", notes Eurostat. At the eurozone level, the unemployment rate stabilised at around 7.9%, the lowest rate since October 2008. Large disparities are still to be noted and remain the same, with, on the one hand, a block of Member States (Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands) with a low unemployment rate close to full employment and, on the other hand, Greece, Spain, Italy and France still suffering from rampant and massive unemployment.
