31/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – As Burkina Faso prepares to take over the presidency of the G5 Sahel next week, the European Union expressed its solidarity with the people of this country on Thursday 31 January, which has been severely affected by terrorism, and "its full support for the Government of Burkina Faso and the other Sahel countries in the fight against terrorism". In a press release, the European External Action Service spokeswoman pointed out that "since the beginning of the year, Burkina Faso has experienced an episode of unacceptable violence in the Sahel region with multiple attacks on villages and security forces, as well as an inter-community massacre in the village of Yirgou which killed more than 50 people" and that "January 2019 is the bloodiest month that the country has ever known with more than 100 victims".
