18/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 18 January, the European Commission approved a French support measure for new solar photovoltaic installations in the Haut-Rhin region of eastern France. This aid, which will take the form of a 20-year purchase contract for small installations and an additional remuneration for large installations (above 500 kilowatts), and will have a provisional budget of up to 250 million euros, aims to promote electricity production from renewable sources. Noting that this scheme would contribute to the production of energy from renewable sources, in line with the EU’s environmental objectives, without significantly distorting competition on the solar market, the Commission gave the green light.
