European Parliament/Council agreement on measures to combat unfair commercial practices

On Wednesday 19 December in Brussels, the EU institutions reached political agreement on a directive to combat unfair trading practices (UTPs) in the food supply chain (see EUROPE 12161).

The text makes it possible to strengthen farmers' bargaining power against the major players in the distribution and processing sector.
