On Wednesday 19 December, the ambassadors of the Member States (Coreper) approved the negotiating directives enabling the European Commission to negotiate with Berne compensation for its exports of seasoned uncooked meat.
These had been hit by an increase in tariff duties following a reclassification of seasoned meat in Switzerland.
In force since July 2016, this reclassification had resulted in significantly higher import duties than previously for these products.
