18/12/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 18 December, the European Commission approved a German measure aimed at deploying very high-capacity networks in six Bavarian municipalities and, therefore, providing very high-speed internet connections to customers in these cities. This measure will provide support for the construction of a very high-capacity connectivity infrastructure, which will be granted to operators through calls from open tenders. The German authorities have also provided for mechanisms to avoid duplication of infrastructures in this area. Noting that this measure was in line with the strategic objectives of the Gigabit Communication to encourage investments in very high capacity networks and the Broadband State Aid Guidelines, the Commission gave its green light.
