Alarmed at the decline in global biodiversity, the European Parliament has called upon the EU to take the lead at the 14th conference of the parties to the Convention on biodiversity (COP 14, Sharm el-Sheikh, 17-19 November) and to set the example by adopting the resources, including financial ones, to meet the targets of its own biodiversity strategy up to 2020.
