22/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services (CLECAT) welcomes, in a position paper of Friday 19 October, the European Commission's proposal for a regulation on electronic freight transport information, presented on last 17 May as part of the third ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 12022). Although implementation of a text containing provisions suggested by the Commission induces, according to the organisation, substantial costs, CLECAT considers that a status quo would result in a lack of coordination of the actions carried out by local and national authorities and would therefore contribute to further fragmentation of the sector. However, the new regulation should build on existing effective solutions. Finally, the text would require some fine-tuning for the organisation. Link to the document: https://bit.ly/2R1ujoM. (LT)
