Commission provides update on control of African swine fever at European Parliament

The European Parliament's agriculture committee reviewed the EU's measures taken to combat African swine fever on Monday 8 October in Brussels. 

Bernard Van Goethem, the director in the European Commission's health department (DG HEALTH), gave an overview of recent events related to African swine fever. 

"We have quite a few cases, particularly in Romania, Russia and China", he noted.  More than 50 wild boars were affected in Belgium, he confirmed, and the virus was found in Bulgaria...
