EU goals to be discussed in Vienna on 3 September

The future of the Erasmus+ programme and the European youth strategy will be at the centre of the informal meeting of European ministers responsible for youth on Monday 3 September in Vienna.

This ministerial meeting is the first since 2006 and constitutes the cumulative point of a broader event, the Youth conference organised on 2-4 September.

At this stage, around 10 ministers have already confirmed that they will be attending the ministerial meeting. Three themes will be on the agenda: the Erasmus+ programme for the 2021-2027 period (see EUROPE 12030); - the European Solidarity Corps after 2020 (see EUROPE 12038), and; - the post-2019 European Youth Strategy (see EUROPE 12024)

During the working breakfast, the ministers well tackle the question of the 'youth' dialogue as an element in the new strategy. In the afternoon, they will meet conference participants, including youth organisations and member state representatives.

Youth Conference.  This wider event, organised by the current Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU, is the third and final EU conference on youth within the framework of the sixth cycle of structured dialogue.

The Austrian Presidency stated “At the conference we want to prepare the ground for all youth policy actors to work together more intensely in shaping a Europe that works for all young people”. (Original version in French by Sophie Petitjean
