03/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 July, the MEPs meeting for the European Parliament plenary session approved the conclusion of the cooperation agreement between the EU and the Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA). This agreement involves developing satellite radio navigation and the provision of associated services in the latter's area of competency for civil aviation (633 votes for, 23 against, 12 abstentions). The goal is to help ASECNA benefit from European satellite radio navigation programmes, particularly with regard to the introduction and use of the SBAS-ASECNA system, based on the technology of the EGNOS system. The Council of the European Union now has to conclude this agreement. (LT)
