20/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting with the EU negotiator on Brexit, Michel Barnier, on Tuesday 19 June, the UEAPME expressed the concerns of its SME members about the impact of the United Kingdom leaving the Union. It also said that it was expecting swift clarification about the post-2021 relationship between the Union and London. The UEAPME highlighted the importance of not changing the cross-border supply chains and customs procedures over the course of just “a few days or weeks”. SMEs therefore now need to know what regulatory situation they will be confronting after March 2019. The organisation is concerned that in the event of a hard Brexit, the European Union could experience another economic crisis. (PH)
