08/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 8 June, the European Commission confirmed that on 5 June, it carried out unannounced inspections on the premises of companies located in several member states of the EU active in the procurement of styrene monomer, a chemical product used for the production of other products. Although the institution did not confirm the member states or companies in question, it has concerns that several companies may have breached EU competition law through restrictive agreements and trade practices. According to information published in the press, the British chemicals company Synthomer may be concerned. These inspections do not necessarily mean that formal investigations of possible breaches of competition rules will be opened. (LT)
