Court holds that a member state can restrict free movement of an EU citizen suspected of past war crimes who is still considered dangerous

On Wednesday 2 May, the European Court of Justice declared that in joint cases C-331/16 and C- 366/16 there was a necessity for the restriction on the freedom of movement and residence of a European Union citizen or a member of their family if they are suspected of having participated in war crimes.
