ETF regrets way in which road transport workers are treated in 'posted workers' directive

12/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Thursday 12 April, the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) said that although it welcomed the significant progress in the inter-institutional agreement on the posted workers directive (see EUROPE 11985, 11972) but regretted that road transport workers have been exempt. Eduardo Chagas, the Secretary-General of the organisation asked, “Are some workers more equal than others?”  The ETF points out that the way in which lorry drivers are treated will depend on a possible agreement on the “mobility” package (see EUROPE 11996). The ETF considers that the provisions on wages in this legislative package are currently disappointing.  (PH)
