03/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 April, the GUE/NGL Group at the European Parliament announced the launch of the Daphne Caruana Galizia €5,000 prize for defence of the right to information. It is open to journalists and/or to whistleblowers. The prize, named after the Maltese investigative journalist assassinated at the end of 2017, aims to circulate the work of persons or groups who have shed light on certain intrigues and wrongdoings and who have undergone pressure for having unveiled them to the public. Applicants should submit their work by Sunday 22 April. A panel composed of journalists will announce the nominees on Friday 4 May.
