28/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 March, MEPs highlighted the key role of cohesion policy in the development of transport infrastructure by adopting (29 votes in favour, 10 against, 0 abstentions) an own initiative report by Andrey Novakov (EPP, Bulgaria) at the regional development committee (REGI). MEPs are insisting that Cohesion Funds, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) remain the main levers for investment and involve all member states and regions in the EU. MEPs are also highlighting integrated investments, particularly for less developed, mountainous and outermost regions and those with low-density populations, by placing the emphasis on cross-border projects where European added value is the most visible.
