On Tuesday 27 February, European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström warned that any restrictive measure the USA decides to impose against imports of steel and aluminium from the EU will be counteracted with appropriate measures. She also promised "strong countermeasures" if US President Donald Trump opts for hard restrictive measures which he justifies under national security.
