01/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – Haiti, a member of the ACP group is among the world’s poorest countries and is particularly vulnerable to natural disasters. It is to receive funding of €15 million to help with disaster preparedness and strengthen resilience, the European Commission announced on Thursday 1 February. Of this sum, €5 million will go to improve local preparedness and intervention capabilities to help those living in particularly exposed parts of the country to be better prepared for crises caused by cyclones, epidemics and flooding. The remaining €10 million will be allocated to the “Pro-Resilience” project which seeks to improve livelihoods and the food and nutritional security of the most vulnerable households. (AN)
