IRU suggests making three consecutive reduced weekly rest times possible for lorry drivers

29/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release on Friday 26 January, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) put forward proposals to revise regulation 561/2006/EC on the working and rest times for lorry drivers, as part of the first “mobility" package presented by the European Commission on 31 May last (see EUROPE 11799). One of its proposals include the suggestion of providing an opportunity to take three reduced weekly rest times (24h) consecutively and to compensate the latter...
