On Monday 15 January, the French finance minister, Bruno Le Maire, announced that the French decree of 2014 governing foreign investments in sectors deemed strategic had been extended to the sectors of digital data storage and artificial intelligence.
Foreign investments in France are “welcome”, but under conditions: “market openness does not mean pillaging our technologies, expertise and skills”, Le Maire explained when presenting his intentions to French economic players.
