14/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 13 December, the Secretary-General of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Luca Visentini, sent a letter to the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and the heads of state and government. In this letter, he calls on them to translate the European Pillar of Social Rights adopted at the Gothenburg Summit, into concrete action (see EUROPE 11906, 11907). He also calls for an implementation action plan to ensure upward social convergence. Esther Lynch, the Confederal Secretary of the organisation informed EUROPE of her disappointment with the lack of ambition and the provisional conclusions of the European Council in this regard (see EUROPE 11925).
