NGOs press EU to ban mercury in dentistry by 2022, as Parliament requests

04/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – European environmental and health NGOs are calling on the EU to phase out mercury use in dentistry by 2022, arguing that the heavy metal is a dangerous neurotoxin which can damage the nervous, renal and cardiovascular systems when it can easily be replaced by less dangerous alternatives, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) announced on Monday 4 December.
