Commission and Italy criticised at European Parliament on effects of their action on migrants in Libya

Appearing before the European Parliament's civil liberties committee on Tuesday 28 November, representatives from the Italian ministry of the interior, the European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) defended the European Union's action in Libya at at time when recent reports on migrant slavery in the country has called the European role into question(see EUROPE 11905, 11909).
