27/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission will be represented in force at the first African Union-European Union summit, in Abidjan on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 November (see EUROPE 11911). Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will participate, as will High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for International Cooperation Neven Mimica. "What happens in Africa matters for Europe, and what happens in Europe matters for Africa. Our partnership is an investment in our shared future", Juncker stated on Monday 27 November. The same day, during the sixth EU-Africa Business Forum ahead of the summit, Commission Vice-President for the Single Digital Market Andrus Ansip called in Abidjan for consideration of "not only how to create the best conditions for long-term private investment, but also how to support jobs for young people – especially women".
