22/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 November, the European Rail Freight Association (ERFA), the Réseau de chemins de fer européens (NEE - Netzwerk Europäischer Eisenbahnen) and the UIRR - International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport published a press release in which they propose a raft of measures to take at a European level in order to avoid similar problems that followed the Rastatt tunnel incident last August (see EUROPE 11855) from reoccurring. These measures include suggestions from the organisations to strengthen international freight traffic operations, introduce plans for risk management and freight traffic contingency and improvements to the way in which international crises are managed.
