22/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 22 November, as part of the European pillar of social rights, the European Commission launched a public consultation about the challenges workers face when attempting to access social protection. The consultation is related to the initiative announced on 26 April 2017 as part of the European Pillar of Social Rights (see EUROPE 11775). The social partners have been consulted as part of the first phase concluded last June but the Commission would like to launch this public consultation because self-employed workers are not covered by the social partners, it explains.
