14/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 14 November, MEPs gave the green light (579 votes for, 79 against, 15 abstentions), to activate the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund, (EGF) to the tune of €3.347 billion to help 1,610 workers from the Italian Almaviva Contact SpA company. The Council approved the European Commission proposal on 7 November last. The European Commission proposed to trigger the EGF last September following Italy’s request (see EUROPE 11870). (PH)
