Europeans come to aid of countries affected by fires or storms

17/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 16 October, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides said that Italian Canadair firefighting aircraft had been sent to Portugal via the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism in order to control the fires that are again ravaging the country.  Similarly, the EU's Copernicus satellite mapping system will provide detailed satellite imagery to help Irish civil protection teams in their work of assisting people...
