10/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – Despite mixed support at the first exchange of views at the end of August (see EUROPE 11850), the own-initiative report by Olle Ludvigsson (S&D, Sweden) on the Commission's action plan on retail financial services was adopted at the European Parliament's committee on economic and monetary affairs (ECON) on Tuesday 10 October, by 46 votes to 8. The revised version of the report - to which 160 amendments were tabled - retains the general spirit that the Commission's action plan does not fully respond to the concerns raised by the European Parliament. The amendments adopted stress the following, in particular: - access to cross-border services; - the need to put an end to 'dynamic change' practices; - maintaining equal competition conditions for SMEs. The plenary vote is scheduled for 13 November. (MF)
