05/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 October, three MEPs who were previously members of the French Front National – Florian Philippot, Sophie Montel and Mireille d'Ornano – announced that they had joined the European Parliament's Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) Group, which is led by British MEP Nigel Farage. "Mireille d'Ornano, Sophie Montel and Florian Philippot have officially joined the EFDD Group, within which they will now sit at the European Parliament. The Group is led by Brexit spokesperson and fervent supporter of national democracies, Nigel Farage", the three MEPs stated in a press release. Following their resignation, the Front National is no longer the first French party by number of parliamentarians represented in the European Parliament, as it now cedes this place to the French party, Les Républicains.
