MEPs are not opposed to a time limited transition period after the effective date of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, such as that called for by UK Prime Minister Theresa May in her Florence speech (see EUROPE 11868).
However, in any such transition period, the whole of the acquis communautaire must continue to apply, and this entails full application of the four fundamental freedoms, and full jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) must be guaranteed,...
