On Thursday 28 September, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) criticised the sentence of two years' imprisonment given by a court in Crimea to Ilmi Umerov, the Crimean Tatar leader and deputy chair of the Mejlis. The EEAS spokesperson called for the sentence to be reversed.
