22/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Friday 22 September, the European confederation of industrial and service cooperatives (CECOP) regretted the lack of consideration for cooperatives in the European Commission’s industrial strategy (see EUROPE 11864). CECOP points out that the “cooperative enterprise model” has proven “its constant ability to adapt to major transformations” and the confederation calls on the Commission to: - take action to ensure that co-operatives are promoted as key tools in case of business transfers or buyouts; - ensure that member states adopt legislation that is adapted to providing support for co-operatives in the industrial sector. CECOP would also like a legal framework for setting up cooperative groups and clusters that are able to pool their services.
