The European Parliament is in favour of allowing airlines to continue to enjoy an exemption to the obligation to pay for the CO2 emissions of their intercontinental flights until the end of 2020, when the global market measure (CORSIA) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which aims to tackle emissions from international aviation, is to be introduced (see EUROPE 11827).
