11/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – On the evening of Friday, 8 September, the European Union hailed Resolution 2374 adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 5 September, which creates a sanctions regime targeted at the people threatening the peace agreement in Mali. This resolution "is a very welcome strong element for preserving the agreement. The EU is ready to support its implementation", the spokesperson for the European External Action Service stated. Saying that the resolution was adopted the day after a terrorist attack against MINUSMA in the Kidal region "aiming once again at the forces responsible for restoring security in Mali and for facilitating implementation of the peace agreement", the EU "reaffirms its full support for MINUSMA".
