First cracks appear at European Parliament over retail financial services action plan

The own-initiative report by Olle Ludvigsson (S&D, Sweden) on the Commission's action plan on retail financial services (see EUROPE 18850) earned a mixed welcome from the other political groups, at an initial exchange of views at the economic and monetary affairs committee of the European Parliament on Wednesday 30 August.

The first stumbling block to emerge is the changes to directives on insurance distribution, mortgages and consumer credit, which are supported by the rapporteur.
