The members of the European Parliament’s environment committee refused, on Thursday 31 August, to follow the line taken by MEPs Julie Girling (ECR, UK) and Annie Schreijer-Pierik (EPP, Netherlands) who sought to challenge the European Commission in regulating the composition, labelling and claims of total diet replacements, products which replace the daily diet for the overweight and obese.
