31/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European federation of savers and users of financial services, Better Finance, reacted on Monday 31 July to the document published on 28 August by the three European supervisory authorities (ESAs: EBA, EIOPA and ESMA) on retail investment products ('Priips') with environmental or social objectives (see EUROPE 11839). The organisation believes the measures proposed by the ESAs are insufficient as regards the information to be supplied to investors by providers of Priips. Better Finance for instance regrets the fact that ESAs do not recommend an obligation to provide information as to whether the product has met its objectives and to what extent. The association also expresses concern at the fact that the ESAs appear to presume that the product's objectives will be met, with providers simply required to report any progress made internally.
