27/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 26 July, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed its first project under the framework for renewable energy in Greece, subscribing to €28.3 million in bonds issued by Hellenic Petroleum, to help the Greek energy company diversify into renewable energy. The funds will support the company in developing photovoltaic and wind projects with a combined capacity of 190 MW. The goal of the €300 million Greek Renewable Energy Framework launched by the EBRD in March of this year is to finance investments in electricity generation from renewable sources and in electricity distribution and transmission capacity to improve efficiency, reduce losses and enable the integration of renewables into the grid.
