27/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 27 July, Werner Hoyer was re-elected to the head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) by the 28 ministers of economy and finance who make up the Governing Council. In a press release, he said that he was honoured to have served as president during “challenging times” and to have overseen the financing of “thousands of projects that have improved millions of people's lives”. Already looking to the future, he added: “new challenges lie ahead for us, not least coping with the loss of the United Kingdom as member of the EU bank. But I'm sure the ingenuity and expertise of the 3,000-strong EIB staff will help us to find solutions to these challenges”. His new term, of six years, will start on 1 January 2018. (MF)
