05/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – Under the terms of a Commission delegated act, processed animal proteins derived from insects and compound animal feeds containing such proteins are authorised in feed for farmed fish in the EU. In a press release published on Wednesday 5 July, FEFAC (European Compound Feed Manufacturers’ Federation) welcomes the authorisation. “In the long term, the inclusion of insect meal could further contribute to the sustainable development of EU aquaculture”, it says. The delegated act amends the annexes to the 2001 regulation on processed animal proteins. (LC)
