05/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Commission has allocated €15.33 million to Italy under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) to improve the functioning of the relocation scheme of refugees present on Italian soil. This support will be used to provide asylum seekers with temporary accommodation, food, language lessons and to inform refugees about relocation possibilities. Since 2015, EU emergency aid to the Italian authorities and international organisations active in Italy on migration issues has totalled €74.09 million. It comes on top of the envelope of €592.6 million made available to finance the programmes of the AMIF fund and the Internal Security Fund (ISF) over the period 2014-2020. (MB)
