02/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – At the initiative of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Council's group on terrorism (COTER) met in Tunisia on 25 and 26 April for meetings with the Tunisian government authorities and civil society, focusing on the development of specific cooperation. This visit, the first to Tunisia, "symbolises the importance the EU and all its member states attach to Tunisia as a key partner country in counter-terrorism", the EU delegation in Tunis states. Tasked with coordinating the member state positions on the international aspects of counter-terrorism, the COTER group mainly carries out analyses of the threat concerning third countries, with the objective of strengthening the EU's cooperation with these countries on the fight against international terrorism.
