02/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – During the Labour Day celebrations on 1 May, the industrial sector’s trade union, IndustriAll, launched an appeal to increase workers’ wages. The trade union organisation points out that since the crisis, the industrial sector in Europe is growing again but highlights the fact that shareholders are getting much better yields than before the crisis. The organisation is making this demand following the Commission’s presentation of a range of initiatives in the social arena, which seek to converge social standards at a European level, particularly in the Eurozone (see EUROPE 11775). In this context, it is proposing the introduction of a minimum wage within the EU and the strengthening of collective-bargaining. (PH)
