13/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 April, the budgetary control committee of the European Parliament approved (by 16 votes to two with two abstentions) the proposal of the Council of the EU to appoint Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz of Hungary as a member of the European Court of Auditors. Parliament will take a position on 27 April on the appointment of Gáll-Pelcz, who became a member of the European Parliament in June 2010, affiliated to the EPP group. In July 2014, she was appointed Vice-President of Parliament and was reappointed to this position in January 2017. The Council has responsibility for appointing the members of the Court and Parliament is simply consulted. (LC)
